Mohamed Salah will be gutted after hearing who has just agreed to leave Liverpool

Mohamed Salah will be one of several Liverpool players hotly anticipating the start of the new Premier League season.

Arne Slot has added some excellent talent to his Liverpool squad this summer, and the likes of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong are already impressing in pre-season.

TBR Football recently revealed that Hugo Ekitike is impressing behind the scenes too — an arrival that shouldn’t be overshadowed because of Liverpool’s interest in Alexander Isak.

But as part of Isak’s potential arrival, which is still far from certain, Liverpool are ready to sell Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguayan arrived at Anfield from Benfica in 2022, but hasn’t reached his potential in a Liverpool shirt, even if he has made important contributions.

That being said, TBR Football have now exclusively revealed that Nunez has agreed a deal in principle to leave Liverpool for the Saudi Pro League.

Liverpool haven’t agreed a club-to-club deal for Nunez to head to Saudi just yet, but talks are progressing.

That being said, whilst Mohamed Salah will be looking forward to playing with Ekitike and potentially even Isak, he might be gutted to see Nunez go.

Speaking towards the end of last year in December, Salah actually admitted that Nunez was his favourite current Liverpool player to feature alongside.

In the past, Salah loved playing with Roberto Firmino, but it was Nunez who he now enjoyed sharing the pitch with most, a chaotic striker who opened up a lot of space for the Egyptian.

Salah said: “Who do I most like to play with? It was Firmino. Now I feel like I generally like playing with Nunez.

“A lot of people don’t like him but I like playing with him.”

Interestingly, Salah actually has a very similar success rate whilst playing with both Nunez and Firmino at Anfield.

The 33-year-old is perhaps better remembered for his link up with Firmino, but he’s been similarly successful playing alongside Nunez, who should thrive in the Saudi Pro League

Of course, Firmino actually left Al-Ahli this summer, one of the clubs interested in signing Nunez this month.

Firmino, who Ekitike has been compared to, has since joined Qatari side Al-Sadd, where he’ll begin his new season in the coming weeks.

And although Nunez is edging closer to leaving Anfield permanently, he’ll always be popular on Merseyside, just like Firmino before him.
