Ruben Amorim has paid for 30 Manchester United staff members and their families to attend the Europa League final, talkSPORT understands.

Coaches, physios and the support team were told that they would have to pay for their own tickets if they wanted to be at the showpiece match in Bilbao.

The Red Devils face fellow Premier League side Tottenham in Spain on May 21, with a spot in next season's Champions League up for grabs for the winner.

Man United's hierarchy have conducted a number of unpopular cost-cutting measures that includes up to 200 redundancies at Old Trafford, and have made two tickets for Bilbao available for staff to purchase rather than fund a complimentary trip to the final.

It's suggested the decision has been made to help supporters purchase as many tickets as possible from the club's 15,000 allocation for the game at the Estadio San Mames.

Meanwhile, players have only been allocated two tickets each while family members and friends will not have their travel costs covered.

But Amorim, who brought several members of staff from Sporting Lisbon over to England when he first took charge of Man United last November, is paying for their attendance out of his own pocket.

The support team includes low-paid members of staff and talkSPORT understands Amorim has done this as a gesture of reward and recognition for their contribution and commitment during a difficult six months at the club.

It's also understood that Amorim would fund the cost to ensure that every staff member could take up to two friends or family.

In contrast, Paris Saint-Germain announced they'd pay for all 600 of their staff members to be at the Champions League final against Inter Milan on May 31.

What's been a dismal campaign will end happily for either Man United or Tottenham as they eye Europa League glory.

Man United and Spurs are 16th and 17th in the Premier League table respectively, meaning winning the Europa League is their only hope of European football next term.

Results on a domestic front show no signs of improving for Man United despite Amorim's appointment earlier this term.

The Portuguese made alarming comments casting doubt on his own future at the club following Man United's 2-0 defeat at home to West Ham last weekend, the 13-time Premier League winners' 17th league defeat of the campaign.

"Everybody here has to think seriously about a lot of things," Amorim said.

"Everybody is thinking about the [Europa League] final. The final is not the issue. We have bigger things to think about.

"I'm talking about myself and the culture in the club and the culture in the team. We need to change that.

"It's a decisive moment in the history of the club.

"We need to be really strong in the summer and to be brave because we will not have a next season like this.

"If we start like this, if the feeling is still here, we should give the space to different people."

So poor have United been that Amorim even suggested that Champions League qualification may be an issue.

"To be honest with you, I'm not concerned about the final," he said. "It's by far the smallest problem in our club.

"We need to change something that is deeper than this.

"We are showing that in the end of this season that playing Premier League and Champions League for us is the moon, so we need to know that.

"I'm not concerned about the final. They (the players) will be focused and I don't know what is best, if it's playing Champions League or not. So, let's think about Chelsea to improve a lot of things."
