Relentless rain sends Washington Freedom to MLC 2025 final

A relentless spell of rain forced an abandonment of the qualifier between Washington Freedom and Texas Super Kings in Dallas. As a result, Freedom went through to their second straight final on the virtue of finishing above TSK in the league stage where they were the table toppers.

While there was a rain threat hovering around, the toss did take place with Glenn Maxwell opting to bowl first on a fresh wicket that was under covers. But shortly after, lightning and thunder forced the teams to retreat indoors from the dugout which was then followed by rain.

As per the rules, if a five-over contest isn't possible, then the teams are supposed to play a super over to determine the winner. But even that wasn't possible, and the game eventually called off. A reserve day wasn't in store for this match since the Eliminator clash is at the same venue the next day. TSK will now face the winner of that contest between MI New York and San Francisco Unicorns to have a crack at the final.
