COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Villanova women's tennis team fell just short in a tightly contested matchup against Georgetown, dropping a 4-3 decision on Saturday, April 11, at the Smith Center.

The Wildcats opened the day strong in doubles play, taking two of three matches to secure the early advantage. The duo of Emi Callahan and Maggie Gehrig cruised to a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Olivia Corcoran and Miriam Gondorova followed with a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 doubles match featuring Lauren Monti and Jenna Stevens went unfinished with the teams split at 6-6, but Villanova still claimed the doubles point.

In singles play, Villanova picked up two hard-fought three-set victories. Corcoran earned a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win at the top spot, while Gondorova battled back from a first-set loss to secure a 0-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles. However, Georgetown responded by taking four of the remaining five completed singles matches to edge out the Wildcats.
