Rishabh Pant Faces MASSIVE Setback In First Season As LSG Captain! Rs 11 Crore Star To Miss Majority Of IPL 2025

The IPL 2025 is all set to begin in just under a fortnight on March 22 (Saturday) with a clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). One of the franchises that everyone will have their eyes on will be Lucknow Super Giants LSG ), especially since Rishabh Pant was appointed the new captain after being bought for a record fee of Rs 27 crore. Even before the season has begun, Pant has faced a massive setback as he has lost one of his star players.

According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, star pacer Mayank Yadav is set to miss the first half of the IPL 2025 due to injury. He is still recovering from a lumbar stress injury and has just returned to bowling at the BCCI Centre of Excellence at Bengaluru, where he is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

There is no specific date for Mayank Yadav's return. However, if his rehabilitation goes according to plan, and he becomes fit in time, he could feature in the second half of the IPL 2025.

Back in February, Zaheer Khan, who was appointed as the new mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants, had revealed that the franchise was working to get Mayank Yadav fully fit for the future.

"As much as we are keen on having him [play IPL 2025], we want him 150% fit not just 100% fit so we'll do everything possible to get him there," Zaheer said.

When Was Mayank Yadav Last Seen In Action?

Mayank Yadav was last seen in India's T20I series against Bangladesh, where he made his international debut. He had an impressive outing where he picked up 4 wickets from 3 games. It was after this series that he got injured.

The Delhi pacer has struggled with injuries ever since stealing the headlines in IPL 2024 for LSG, where he played only 4 matches but made a serious impact because of his ability to consistently bowl at speeds of over 150 kmph. He was retained by the franchise for Rs 11 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
