What's the story

New Zealand's captain Amelia Kerr has made history by becoming the third woman from her country and the 14th overall to take an ODI hat-trick. The feat came during the third and final WODI against Zimbabwe in Dunedin on Wednesday. The White Ferns secured a massive 200-run victory over Zimbabwe, completing a clean sweep of the three-match WODI series. Kerr, who recorded a fifer, also scored 80 (106) with the bat.

Match highlights

Kerr's all-round brilliance

Kerr's all-round prowess was on full display as she scored 80 runs in New Zealand's massive total of 303/6 in 50 overs. She then led the bowling attack, taking a hat-trick and five wickets to decimate Zimbabwe at University Oval. The visitors perished for 103 in 27.1 overs. The 25-year-old bagged the hat-trick in the 24th over of Zimbabwe's chase, when she dismissed Adel Zimunu, Audrey Mazvishaya, and Tendai Makusha.

Rare feat

Third hat-trick for NZ women

Kerr's hat-trick is only the third by a New Zealand woman and the first since Emily Drumm achieved the same against Australia at Adelaide Oval in February 1996. Overall, this was the 14th hat-trick in WODIs. Kerr became the third woman to take a WODI hat-trick in this decade, joining England's Charlie Dean (vs South Africa in 2024) and South Africa's Chloe Tryon (vs Sri Lanka in 2025).
