Key reason for Storm poaching revealed as Dolphins flyer set to replace Bears-bound star

The Storm have found a replacement for Nick Meaney with Dolphins winger Jamayne Isaako inking a two-year deal with the club from next season.

Meaney will join the Perth Bears after 2026, with the Storm seeing Isaako as the perfect goal kicking replacement for the versatile back.

“Melbourne Storm has today announced the signing of Dolphins outside back and goal-kicker Jamayne Isaako on a two-year deal for the 2027 and 2028 seasons,” the Storm said in a statement.

The 29-year-old has scored 77 tries and 1,363 points in 164 NRL games for the Dolphins, Titans and Broncos since his debut in 2017.

Isaako was the leading point scorer in the NRL last season with a whopping 278 points.

The veteran flyer has also scored nine tries in 15 Tests for New Zealand and Samoa.

Storm Director of Football Frank Ponissi said the club was excited to welcome a player of Isaako’s calibre to the club.

“Jamayne is a high-quality and experienced player who adds speed and versatility to our backline,” Ponissi said.
