Manchester United are being linked with signing a Barcelona star amid uncertain around Marcus Rashford's future at Old Trafford

Manchester United are reportedly being given the chance to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres amid continued uncertainty about Marcus Rashford’s future. United loaned Rashford to the La Liga giants last summer, which also includes the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Rashford expressed a desire to leave Old Trafford last summer, which led to United striking a deal that saw the England international leave the club on a loan basis with an option to buy for Barcelona.

With just a couple of months to go until Rashford’s loan deal expires, it seems that United may have the opportunity to sign one of Barcelona’s players this summer.

It has been reported by TEAMtalk that Torres could become a target for United this summer thanks to the La Liga club’s latest stance.

The report claims that Barcelona are looking to navigate their finances for another summer transfer window, which may include allowing some players to leave in order to fund the signings of new stars.

As a result, it has been claimed that Torres has been “offered” to United as Barcelona look to try and bring Rashford to the Camp Nou for another season.

Barcelona have the option to sign Rashford for €30million (£26million), but various reports have suggested that the Spanish club have explored the possibility of signing the United star on loan for another year.

As a result, the report claims that Barcelona have presented the option of United signing Torres, 26, which may allow the Reds to be more lenient in allowing Rashford to leave on another loan, if the opportunity presents itself.

Torres already has experience of playing in Manchester, having spent two years at the Etihad Stadium with Manchester City before his return to Spain back in 2022.

United are reported to be “intrigued” by the offer from Barcelona about signing Torres, but it remains to be seen what decision the player and the Reds would make if such a deal became a reality.

Torres has enjoyed an impressive season at Barcelona this season, scoring 16 goals across all competitions, which has helped the club reach the quarter-final of the Champions League and have a four-point lead over Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga standings.

Rashford has previously made it clear that he would like to remain at Barcelona beyond the length of his current loan deal.

"[I want to stay for] as many [seasons] as possible. We will see,” Rashford told TNT Sports back in October.

"I have to focus on trying to do my job and trying to help the team in whichever way I can."

He added: "I'm learning a lot, it's a new style of football. But it's making me a better player. Honestly, it's an amazing experience. I've always been a huge admirer of Barcelona, every player my age has watched them play, it's amazing football."
