Real Madrid's football stadium, the Santiago Bernabéu, will be transformed into tennis training courts between 23 and 30 April for the 2026 Mutua Madrid Open, one of the largest events on the clay-court calendar. The competition will run from 20 April to 3 May at the Caja Mágica. The arrangement also raises the prospect of seven-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz, a passionate Real Madrid fan, training at the Bernabéu during the tournament — albeit in a practice setting rather than a match environment. The temporary conversion is expected to begin after Real Madrid’s league match against Alavés, scheduled for 21 or 22 April, when the stadium pitch will be removed. That would allow the Bernabéu to be prepared as a practice venue while the tournament is underway.Main-draw matches will continue to be played at the Caja Mágica.
