Alexander Zverev's GF Shuts Down Breakup Rumors at Miami Open

German tennis star Alexander “Sashca” Zverev takes on Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Miami Open on March 26. The winner will advance to play Jannik Sinner in the semifinal round.

While Cerundolo defeated Zverev the first three times they played against one another, Zverev defeated Cerundolo in all their of three of their most recent matches. The last played in round four of the Australian Open, where Zverev won 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.

The 28-year-old advanced to the quarterfinal in Miami after defeating France’s Quentin Halys 7-6, 7-6, in two tiebreaks. As he chases his eighth Master 1000 championship, he arrived to Miami with his girlfriend, Sophia Thomalla.

The couple’s presence immediately turned some heads as Thomalla was noticeably absent at the Australian Open in January. Amid her absence, rumors swirled that Zverev was dating model Caroline Daur, who attended several matches during the tournament.

While Zverev competed and lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals, Thomalla remained silent on social media. Despite enjoying a tropical vacation with Thomalla in December, the Daily Mail reported that Daur and Zverev were now an item, debuting their romance at Melbourne Park.

However, Thomalla and Zverev shut down all breakup rumors before the Miami Open kicked off this week.

Thomalla and Zverev arrived at the Taste of Tennis Miami event with their dog, Mishka, leaving no doubt that their relationship is going strong. Mishka’s Instagram account posted a video from the event and wrote, “Me and my two full-time employees 😎.”

The following day, Mishka’s account posted a photo of Thomalla holding a Polaroid of Zverev at Hard Rock Stadium and wrote, “Center. Of. Everything. 🐶.” The 36-year-old also shared photos from the couple’s date night in Miami on her Instagram Stories, where the German “Are You the One?” reality TV host has 1.4 million followers.

Thomalla and Mishka also joined Zverev as he competed in Indian Wells earlier this month. He lost to Jannik Sinner in the semifinal round.

Thomalla is no stranger to dealing with high-profile relationships. She previously dated Liverpool keeper Loris Karius after a brief marriage to Norwegian singer Andy LaPlegua. As for Zverev, he has a daughter from a previous relationship with Brenda Patea.

Zverev, who’s still looking to win his first major title, spoke his new approach to tennis at the pre-tournament press conference in Miami. “A lot of players want to be aggressive, but it’s not easy to apply this kind of tactic. I’m trying to adopt a different game starting this year and I’m aware that it’s a long process, which requires patience,” he said.

“I’m managing to be more aggressive at certain times, but I still need time and I can’t be effective all the time. I am willing to accept some losses because I am confident about this path. I’m sure it’s the right thing to do at this stage of my career.”
