Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger have been fierce rivals to Liverpool, and each other, over the years. Back in 2019, though, the duo were in agreement after being left in awe by what Reds supporters did during a historic match for the club.

June 2019 saw Liverpool face Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final. Goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi saw the Reds win their sixth European Cup and the first major trophy of the Jurgen Klopp era.

Mourinho and Wenger were both working as pundits for beINSPORTS' coverage of the final in Madrid, where Liverpool fans enjoyed euphoric celebrations at the Metropolitano Stadium. Before kick-off, the club's anthem, You'll Never Walk Alone, was played over the stadium's loudspeakers, which prompted the travelling Kop to sing along.

Mourinho was asked for his opinion on the atmosphere generated by the Liverpool supporters in the Spanish capital. The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager was left in awe by the travelling Reds fans.

"This is more beautiful than what we can say!".

Wenger was in agreement with Mourinho, giving a concise verdict. The former Arsenal boss said: "It's unique!"

Wenger went on to explain, from his experience of managing against Liverpool during his time at Anfield, why he holds the club and the city in high regard.

"Liverpool is the city of music, of the working class and of football," Wenger said after the full-time whistle in Madrid.
