The tennis tournament in New York City, USA is entering its final stages, and with that serving up a blockbuster matchup between a rising star and returning star.

It has been a resurgent few weeks for Osaka, the former world number one making the Canadian Open final in her first tournament with new coach Tomasz Wiktorowski on the eve of the US Open.

Now the two-time Flushing Meadows champion is into her third semi-final here, having gone on to lift the trophy on her previous appearances in the final four. A statement win against world no. 3 Coco Gauff stands out, though the Japanese star has been back to her very best all throughout the Grand Slam.

She takes on USA’s Anisimova, who is aiming to make consecutive major finals after a stunning run at Wimbledon 2025 a few months ago.
