Pakistan player Salman Agha on Saturday was reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during his side’s second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur on Friday.

In a statement, ICC said that Agha had been found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The clause relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”

One demerit point has been added to Agha’s disciplinary record, for whom this was the first offence in a 24-month period. Four demerits points over this 24-month period lead to a suspension.

Agha admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction.

The incident occurred in the 39th over of Pakistan’s innings. After being controversially run out by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Agha threw his batting gloves and helmet to the ground in an inappropriate manner.

“What he has done is in the law. I think if he thinks it’s right, it’s right, but if you ask me my perspective, I would have done differently. I ‌would have gone for sportsman spirit,” Agha said about the incident.
