Katie Boulter showed off her new ring after getting engaged to Alex de Minaur

Katie Boulter has announced her engagement to fellow tennis star Alex de Minaur. The pair have been together for almost five years and have played mixed doubles together at Wimbledon. Ahead of their showdown at the United Cup later this month, Boulter took to Instagram to show off her new ring.

Boulter and De Minaur announced the news on Monday morning, sharing a joint Instagram post. The duo posed together in a smiling selfie, as the British tennis star draped her arm around her partner to show off the ring on her finger. "We've been keeping a small secret..." she wrote in the caption.

Their colleagues and rivals flooded the comments with well-wishes. "About damn time," Thanasi Kokkinakis joked, as Paula Badosa congratulated the pair. Boulter's Billie Jean King Cup captain Anne Keothavong wrote: "Whoop! Whoop!!" German tennis ace Eva Lys admitted she was "tearing up" at the announcement.

The British No. 1 teased their engagement last week with another Instagram post. She shared a photo sitting in front of the sea in Alicante as the sun set and wrote: "Today was a good day". It appeared to be the same backdrop as their engagement selfie. However, Boulter and De Minaur won't have much time to celebrate as both will be in action at the United Cup, where they will have to face off against each other. Great Britain and Australia have been drawn in the same group for the second year running, meaning the lovebirds will have to cheer against each other when they face off in a tie on December 31. There are two singles matches and a mixed doubles in every United Cup clash so Boulter could even end up playing against her fiance if they are selected for the doubles.
