At first, it appeared he had just winded himself. But as teammates gathered around him, concern mounted when Iyer began showing signs of distress. He was immediately taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, accompanied by team doctor Dr. Rizwan Khan. Initial X-rays suggested rib bruising, but a subsequent CT scan revealed a far more serious issue — a laceration to his spleen, causing internal bleeding.
