1
Mark Chapman from the New Zealand batting lineup will miss the third ODI match against Pakistan set for Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Saturday. The Napier ODI match forced Chapman to suffer a hamstring injury while fielding so he could not play in the Hamilton ODI contest. Friday’s training session fitness examination showed that Chapman had not recovered enough to resume playing. The final game of New Zealand’s home summer will see Tim Seifert continue to replace Chapman in the team roster.

Injury Forces Mark Chapman To Miss Final ODI As Tim Seifert Retains Spot

The third ODI against Pakistan will be without Mark Chapman after his career-high 132 in the opening match because he sustained a hamstring injury during that game. Medical tests before the third and last ODI at Bay Oval found that his hamstring had not healed completely thus forcing him to miss playing in both the second ODI of the tour at Hammond Park and the final match. The 2-0 lead in the series has prompted New Zealand to keep Tim Seifert in their team for the remaining final game against Pakistan during their domestic summer lineup.

The coaches selected Tim Seifert because of how he performed in the T20I series against Pakistan as he showcased exceptional performance, scoring 249 runs with an impressive strike rate of 207.50, earning him the prestigious Player of the Series award. Seifert will compete in his first ODI match since 2019 when the ODI series commences. Nick Kelly took on the opening batting role in the inaugural game of Mariu, as Will Young was not selected. Meanwhile, Tom Latham missed the entire India tour series due to a fractured hand, which sidelined him from all matches.
