Ian Wright has just noticed something really 'scary' about Liverpool that nobody's talking about

Arne Slot has done a magnificent job since being appointed as the Liverpool boss.

Jurgen Klopp’s departure last summer was viewed by many as a big problem. Almost everybody expected Liverpool to fall off this season – just like Manchester United and Arsenal did when Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger left.

However, Slot has exceeded all expectations, and his Liverpool side are now the absolute favourites to win the Premier League title.

The Dutchman deserves a lot of credit for the work he has done, but he should get even more praise for one thing that nobody’s really talking about.

Ian Wright shares what’s actually ‘scary’ about Liverpool

There were a lot of question marks about Slot when he first arrived at Liverpool.

Yes, people knew that his approach to the game was slightly similar to that of Klopp, but the Dutchman still had to come in and get the job done.

Everyone expected the Liverpool board to back Slot in last summer’s transfer window, but Federico Chiesa was the only one signed.

The Italian was always only going to be a squad rotation player, so Slot basically had to do with the team Klopp left him with.

Ian Wright has had his say on that now. The Arsenal legend thinks it’s ‘scary’ that Slot has been able to do what he has done without having the luxury of bringing in the players he wants.

Once he will be able to do that this summer, Liverpool could potentially go up a level.

He said on The Kelly and Wrighty Show: “You bring in someone like Gravenberch. You know they were trying to buy Zubimendi at the start of the season because they couldn’t fix that particular position. Now, that’s fixed.

“Then, they’ve just kept on with the momentum and I think that what’s great about it is that they’ve not got carried away with anything, you know, everybody’s talking about ‘oh yeah but they’re not playing well’ – it doesn’t matter!

“I’ve not seen a game where I didn’t think that they’re going to be able to take someone off the bench and still finish the game.

“They’re in total control and it’s quite scary to see, especially when the manager – none of them are his players! He’s come in and he’s coached these players. What’s going to happen when Slot brings his players in, his system, what he wants to play?”

Jurgen Klopp didn’t make the same mistake that Sir Alex Ferguson did

Ferguson is arguably the greatest manager English football has ever seen. He was unbelievable and was the biggest reason why Manchester United were so successful all those years ago.

However, the one mistake the Scot made was that he left an ageing squad for his successor.

Klopp did no such thing. He had built a brilliant Liverpool side mixed with youth and experience, and Slot has benefitted massively from it.

That is the reason why Liverpool are on track to win the Premier League title in the coming months.
