Alex Eala to play with Coco Gauff in Italian Open doubles

After an early exit in the singles tournament of the Italian Open, Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala will now shift her focus to the doubles tournament where she will play with 2023 US Open champion Coco Gauff.

Gauff, 21 years old, is ranked no. 3 by the Women's Tennis Association. Prior to this, Gauff fell to world no. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the Madrid Open.

Gauff also ruled the Italian Open singles tourney back in 2023.

The 19-year old Eala, meanwhile, recently reached a career-high no. 70 in the world rankings. In Madrid, she fell to world no. 2 Iga Swiatek in the Round of 64.

Eala and Gauff will start their doubles run when they play Alexandra Panova and Hungarian duo Fanny Stollar in the Round of 32. The schedule of the doubles tournament, however, is yet to be released.
