Jannik Sinner has become accustomed to making history.

In his short time on the ATP Tour, he’s already broken more records than most players do in an entire career, and yet he still has plenty ahead of him.

At just 24 years old, the Italian is already a four-time Grand Slam champion, but it’s not just at the majors where he’s found success.

He now holds one of tennis’ toughest records to break – winning at least three Masters titles in back-to-back seasons. Only Federer and Nadal had managed that before him.

Jannik Sinner breaks another record with latest win in Madrid

A statistic shared by OptaAce shortly after Sinner’s win over Rafael Jodar highlights just how strong his start to the 2026 season has been, drawing comparisons to two of the game’s all-time greats.

Until now, only those two had ever made it to the semi-finals of the first four Masters 1000 events in a single year. Federer did it in 2006, while Nadal pulled it off twice, in both 2010 and 2011.

Sinner is now part of that elite group.

It’s a testament to how consistent he’s become, and considering the remaining field in Madrid, few would be surprised if he adds another title to his growing list.

Sinner and Alcaraz share social media praise for Rafael Jodar

After praising Jodar’s performance in the immediate aftermath of their match, Sinner followed up later on Instagram with a more reflective message.

He commended the 19-year-old for pushing him “to the limit” and wished him well for the rest of the season.

Sinner posted: “Really happy to be in the semis @rafa.jodarr you pushed me to the limit. Thanks for the high-quality match, all the best for the rest of the season.”

Alcaraz also acknowledged Jodar’s efforts, commenting on his post to congratulate him on what he called a “spectacular tournament”.

The top two players in men’s tennis have both shown respect for how quickly he is developing, even though it will be some time before he is competing with them regularly at this level.
