Turkey: Osimhen facing tough decision between Galatasaray, move to Arsenal, Barcelona

Super Eagles’ striker, Victor Osimhen, has been in the news a lot lately.

The fresh headline for today would have been that the 27-year-old had clinched back-to-back league titles with Galatasaray.

But that did not happen on Saturday night, as they suffered a shock 4-1 defeat to Samsunspor.

Osimhen failed to find the back of the net as Galatasaray saw bitter rivals, Fenerbahce close the gap to four points, with two fixtures left to play.

You do expect the Yellow and Red to wrap it up next weekend when they host Antalyaspor.

But after then, the conversations will spin back to Osimhen’s future.

The Nigerian striker has been attracting serious attention from Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea.

If Osimhen decides to move on, it would indeed be a difficult decision for him. The fans at the Rams Park have shown him the highest form of affection at different times.

“He finally feels at home at Gala,” Victor Oluwafemi, the Senior Social Media Manager at Sporty TV tells DAILY POST.

“This is what many players desire in their career and some never get it.

“It’s safe to say he has become a cult hero at the club in record-breaking time.

“I assume the circumstances surrounding his exit from Napoli fuelled this, turning down a ridiculous amount of money from Saudi for Gala is being rewarded by the fans. He should enjoy every bit of it.”

Oluwafemi believes Osimhen has to play with the best to truly be considered the best.

“I think he is one of the best strikers in the world and the best in the world don’t play in Turkey,” he said.

“They play in the elite league.

“The fans, and Nigerians deserve to see him wear a jersey of one of the elite clubs. Such talent shouldn’t be hidden in Turkey.”

It wouldn’t be a big surprise, however, if Osimhen decides to remain with Galatasaray for at least one more year.

A lot of observers have claimed that top clubs could switch their attention if he keeps turning them down.

Oluwafemi added: “The famous saying ‘never say never’ in football applies here.

“If Harry Kane can make a switch to Bayern late into his career, then Victor can still make a big move if he continues to deliver for Gala.”
