23 February 2026 • 2 minute readGreg Slade and Lucy Shuker each claimed their first titles of 2026 over the weekend at the Bolton Indoor WT 175 Wheelchair Tennis Tournament, as the curtain came down on 10 days of international wheelchair tennis across back-to-back events at Bolton Arena.Contesting quad singles and doubles finals in Bolton for the second year in a row, Slade partnered Australian Benjamin Wenzel to their second title as a partnership, the top seeds edging out second seeds Justin Michel of France and Ymanitu Silva of Brazil 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 after a deciding match tie-break.Slade’s hopes of retaining the quad singles title looked promising after he took an early 3-1 lead against world No.11 Wenzel in the singles final, but the Australian went on to prevail 6-4, 6-2 to leave Bolton with both the WT 175 and WT 100 titles.British No.2 Slade, who now has a collection of three singles and five doubles titles in Bolton since 2022, said: “I’m really pleased with my week in Bolton and can’t complain with a doubles title and singles runner-up spot. I’m happy to have brought my level and my game to a match court again after some difficult results at the Australian Open. My team and I continue to put in the hard work, there are lots of positives to take forward.”British No.1 Shuker claimed her eighth WT 175 women’s doubles title in Bolton since 2014 after partnering Pauline Deroulede of France to retain their title with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over British No.2 Cornelia Oosthuizen and Israel’s Maayan Zikri.Shuker also fought back from 5-1 down in the third set of her opening singles match before losing out 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(6) to eventual tournament runner-up Charlotte Fairbank of France. The Briton said: “After a close fought singles match that, unfortunately, I lost, it was great to team up again with my good friend Pauline and defend our doubles title. Also, a big thank you to tournament director Louise and her team at Bolton for running a great event.”10years ago this year, Shuker partnered two-time Paralympian and now LTA tournament director Louise Hunt Skelley to win her third women’s doubles title in Bolton. With players from 18 countries having played in the first two tournaments on 2026 UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour to be organised by the LTA, the women’s singles title returned to Colombia for the second time in three years after top seed Angelica Bernal beat Fairbank 6-0, 6-1 in Sunday’s final.Meanwhile, Dutchman Tom Egberink left Bolton with both the WT 175 men’s singles and doubles titles.Egberink lived up to his top seeding to beat Israeli second seed Sergei Lysov 6-1, 7-5 in the singles final and partnered Japan’s Kouhei Suzuki to beat the top-seeded all-Dutch partnership of Robin Groenewoud and Maarten Ter Hofte 2-6, 6-1, 10-5 in the doubles final.
