Alex Eala relishes Madrid Open run: 'I like to think I’m a lion in the making'

Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala relished her recently concluded stint at the Madrid Open.

Eala fell to world no. 2 Iga Swiatek on Thursday in the Round of 64 to end her campaign in the said tournament.

"Wow—what an experience playing in this year’s Madrid Open, especially on Pista Manolo Santana," Eala wrote in the caption of her post.

"It’s such a privilege to bring out my competitive side and perform at a high level on these iconic courts."

Eala described the match vs Swiatek as a "battle," but she is "counting on it not being the last."

"Sometime ago, my dad told me, 'If you want to be a lion, you have to live in the den.' I’ve earned my place in the den—and I like to think I’m a lion in the making," she added.

Prior to the loss to Swiatek, Eala won against Bulgaria's Viktoriya Tomova.
