It has been a memorable season for Kerry clubs on the national stage, with the county once again underlining its enduring strength and depth across the club game. Having completed a clean sweep of All-Ireland titles at club level, Kerry sides have continued to set the standard, reinforcing the county’s reputation as a powerhouse of the game.

That tradition of excellence has been built not only on success on the field, but on the steady flow of experienced players transitioning into leadership and coaching roles, a trend that shows no sign of slowing as attention now turns towards the 2026 season.

Former Kerry defender and All-Ireland winner Shane Enright has taken on an intriguing new coaching role ahead of the 2026 campaign.

As reported by Mortimer Murphy in The Irish Examiner, Shane Enright has taken on the role of coach with Laune Rangers, one of Kerry’s most established clubs following the departure of Liam Hassett, who stepped away after three years in charge.

The Tarbert native enjoyed a decorated inter-county career with Kerry, collecting All-Ireland honours and an All-Star award, and was a key figure during a successful era for the county. More recently, Enright remained an active player, lining out in the 2025 Kerry Junior Football Championship, underlining his continued connection to the game.

The team will be managed in 2026 by Denis Cleary, brother of Cork senior football manager John Cleary, with Enright’s appointment viewed as a significant addition to the coaching setup.

The move represents another example of Kerry’s deep pool of playing and coaching talent continuing to shape the inter-county and club landscape.
