Money important than blood: Uddhav Sena MP slams government over Ind vs Pak match

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Sunday launched a strong attack on the government and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for allowing a cricket match between India and Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup. She alleged that monetary interests have been prioritised over the blood of Indian soldiers and citizens, calling it not just "blood money" but "cursed money".

"When money is more important than the blood of our fellow Indians and our men in uniform. Shame on GoI for being a hypocrite on Operation Sindoor. And dear BCCI- this is not just blood money that you’ll seek to earn but also cursed money," Chaturvedi said, apparently referring to the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

Her remarks came just hours after the Asian Cricket Council officially announced the tournament schedule and venues in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, highlighting the India-Pakistan match as a "Blockbuster Fixture". "India vs Pakistan is scheduled for 14 September, 2025 with potential rematches during Super Four and Final," the council mentioned.

India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group as the UAE and Oman for the 2025 Asia Cup, scheduled to be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28. The tournament, played in the T20 format, could see the two rivals face off up to three times.

Earlier in July, the Uddhav Sena MP had slammed the BCCI for allowing ex-Indian cricketers to feature in a match against Pakistan in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) tournament, reminding the government of its "no-engagement" stance with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 dead.

She remarked that the decision reflected "moral bankruptcy," despite the government's public display of a tough stance on cricketing ties with the neighbouring country.

However, the India Champions vs Pakistan Champions clash in the WCL was later cancelled after Indian players refused to participate.
