WASHINGTON - Following a national search, Georgetown University Head Coach Rob Sgarlata announced the return of Jack McDaniels to the Hilltop as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. McDaniels, who previously served in multiple roles on the Hoya offensive staff, returns to Georgetown after a successful stint at Central Michigan University."Our players and staff are very excited to welcome Jack McDaniels back to the Hilltop as our offensive coordinator," said Sgarlata. "Jack has been a vital part of our program's growth, and he has continued to develop as a coach at the highest levels of college football. His experience, leadership, and ability to develop quarterbacks make him a great fit to create the next chapter of our offensive development."McDaniels most recently served as the senior offensive analyst at Central Michigan under Head Coach Matt Drinkall and Offensive Coordinator Jim Chapin. In his role, he was a key contributor in offensive game planning, pass game research and installation, while also assisting across all offensive position groups. In the staff's first season, Central Michigan led the Mid-American Conference in offensive efficiency, yards per pass attempt, and completion percentage, while earning its first bowl berth in five years.McDaniels also served a stint as a quarterbacks coach fellow of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the summer of 2025 via the National Coaching Academy. There, McDaniels aided the staff with Rookie Mini-Camp as well as assisting the staff during Veteran OTAs.Prior to his time at Central Michigan, McDaniels was an integral part of Georgetown's offensive staff, serving as pass game coordinator, quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator. During that span, he directed all aspects of the passing game and led recruiting operations."I'm extremely humbled and honored to return to Georgetown as the offensive coordinator," said McDaniels. I'm looking forward to getting to work and developing an offense that plays fast, physical, and disciplined."McDaniels, a Northern Virginia native, began his coaching career at the University of West Alabama as an offensive graduate assistant following a standout playing career as a quarterback, where he threw for nearly 10,000 yards and 90 touchdowns. A three-time team captain and Academic All-American, he brings both leadership and high-level playing experience to the position.
