Earlier, Cricket West Indies confirmed on Monday that the team’s travel plans after their exit from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 had been postponed. The delay is because of international airspace restrictions caused by security concerns related to the conflict involving Israel and Iran. In an official statement, CWI had said, "These restrictions are a direct result of the security threats posed by military action in the Gulf Region, which has impacted several international flight routes and required airlines to adjust scheduled services for safety reasons." The board assured that the safety and well-being of the players, coaching staff, and officials remain the highest priority. "CWI is working closely with the International Cricket Council (ICC), relevant governmental authorities, and airline partners to secure the earliest possible safe travel arrangements for the squad and support staff," the statement added. West Indies were eliminated from the tournament after losing to the India national cricket team by five wickets in their final Super Eight match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. In that match, West Indies scored 195/4, with contributions from Roston Chase, Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer, while Jason Holder and Rovman Powell added an unbeaten partnership. For India, Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets. During the chase, Sanju Samson scored an unbeaten 97, with support from Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma, helping India win the match comfortably. West Indies are two-time champions of the Men’s T20 World Cup, having won the tournament in 2012 and 2016
