The 2026 ICC T20 Cricket World Cup is slowly coming to a close. With the Super 8s reaching their dramatic conclusion, it’s time for the semi-final matches to get underway.

The first semi-final match is South Africa vs New Zealand on March 4th, 2026. South Africa hasn’t lost a match yet this tournament, but will they take New Zealand for granted? Let’s hope not.

T20 cricket can be dramatic at times, perhaps not as dramatic or grand as the Winter Olympics or NHL trade deadline, or even the beginning of NFL free agency. But one way or another, cricket never fails to entertain.

As you will be able to determine from the following predictions, weather report, and more, it’s shaping up to be an entertaining semi-final match.

South Africa vs New Zealand T20 Cricket Semi-Final Match Predictions

While the India vs England semi-final match seems like more of a heavyweight bout, South Africa vs New Zealand is shaping up to be no less entertaining.

Tapmad published some thoughts on the match that offer a good summary of what these two squads bring to the pitch.

“This New Zealand vs South Africa semi-final at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is the match that defines what knockout cricket is all about,” the outlet wrote. “South Africa have been the tournament’s most complete and dominant side and their claim to favouritism is fully justified.”

“But New Zealand have beaten South Africa three times in a row before this tournament, possess one of the most dangerous powerplay batters alive in Finn Allen, and have the bowling variety to create problems for any lineup on any surface.”

Now, these two teams have already met earlier in this tournament. On February 14th, South Africa completed a successful chase, defeating New Zealand by a score of 178/3 to 175/7.

Marco Jansen came out of the contest with the Player of the Match award after putting together a 4/40 bowling performance. On the offensive side of the bat, Aiden Markram knocked 86 in 44 balls, with eight boundaries and four maximums under his belt.

New Zealand’s best bowler was Mitchell Santner. In four overs, he surrendered 33 runs, finishing the match with an 8.25 Economy. For batters, Mark Chapman had the best knock. Chapman struck 48 runs on 26 balls, with six 4s and two 6s.

Google’s win probability favors South Africa, with 60 percent and 40 percent for New Zealand.
