Trent Alexander-Arnold's Real Madrid jersey will seemingly feature the name "Trent" instead of "Alexander-Arnold". The former Liverpool player was presented as a Madrid player on Thursday, and he held up a jersey which said "Trent 12" on the back of it.

Alexander-Arnold was joined by girlfriend Estelle Behnke as well as his mother and father as he posed for pictures alongside Madrid president Florentino Perez.

During his time at Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold donned his double-barreled surname on the back of his jersey above the number 66.

La Liga rules prohibit first-team squad players from wearing numbers higher than 25, so it was always known that he wouldn't be able to continue wearing the number 66 at Madrid, but the name change does come as something of a surprise.

Alexander-Arnold has also changed his Instagram handle from "trentarnold66" to "trent", which suggests he is keen on building a brand around his forename during this new phase in his career.

There were rumors during the final few months of Alexander-Arnold's time at Liverpool that he had secretly been learning Spanish in anticipation of joining Madrid, and that rumor appeared to be confirmed as he issued a statement in Spanish at the beginning of his presentation.

"Thank you to Florentino Perez and the club for this opportunity," Alexander-Arnold said. "This doesn't happen every day, it's a dream come true. I'm very happy and proud to be here. I want to show Real Madrid fans how I play.

"I do realize I'm signing for Real Madrid, the demands are high, but I'm going to give my all for the team and the fans. I want to show those fans how I play, I want to win many titles, I want to be a winner here and enjoy playing alongside the best players in the world. Hala Madrid."

Speaking in his press conference, Alexander-Arnold explained the reasons for his jersey change and the challenge that awaits him in Madrid. He said: "Yeah, it's an easy explanation, I always found when I travel to Europe the name situation confuses people.

"People call me Alexander or Arnold or Trent, so let's make it simple, be known as Trent, that's my name so I guess that is what people will call me!

"I have been fortunate to have played for the biggest team in England and now in Spain, both have massive histories, lots of trophies and dominated their leagues at times. So to have that honor to represent both, there are a lot of similarities, an expectation to win, to win trophies and perform. That doesn't change, the weather does.

"But to be honest, football is football, at Liverpool you are expected to win trophies, here is no different. That is the demand and we have to deliver."
