Opta give Liverpool fans new reason to beg FSG for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah renewals

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah’s contract situations have been two of the biggest points all season for Liverpool supporters.

The Anfield superstars make up two of three key players in Arne Slot’s side who are currently set to leave Liverpool for nothing at the end of the season, with captain Virgil van Dijk also now in the final few months of his current deal.

WIth Real Madrid pushing to sign Alexander-Arnold and Salah dropping cryptic hints about his Liverpool contract situation, it’s safe to say that the Reds’ FSG owners have played out these sagas in the worst way possible.

And Opta might have just given Liverpool fans even more ammo to fire at FSG in regards to their attempts in keeping Alexander-Arnold and Salah.

Alexander-Arnold and Salah ranked amongst Premier League’s best partnerships

As per new findings from Opta, Alexander-Arnold and Salah are ranked amongst the Premier League’s best partnerships when it comes to player combinations, with the duo creating 16 chances in total for one another this season.

Given that Alexander-Arnold missed almost a month of football in the first half of the season, the pair making it into the top-five is nothing short of impressive, with the England international and Salah having a connection that few players have in the Premier League.

Indeed, the finding also shows just how deadly Liverpool’s right-hand side can be, and how disastrous it could be if the Reds were to lose both Alexander-Arnold and Salah in the same summer if their contracts were to run out.

As a result, fans should be pushing harder than ever to get FSG to hand the Anfield duo new contracts, with Liverpool supporters making their feelings known against Manchester United with a new banner in the Kop.

It might be too little too late for Liverpool to keep Alexander-Arnold and Salah

Liverpool’s process of going about keeping Alexander-Arnold and Salah has been nothing short of a shambles, with the Reds uncharacteristically allowing two of their most important players to run down their contracts despite the duo being in their prime.

And although there is a chance that Alexander-Arnold or Salah could sign new contracts, the current climate feels like it’s too little too late for Liverpool to tie down the two superstars to long-term deals.

Liverpool fans will have every right to be made with FSG if Alexander-Arnold and Salah both leave this summer, and manager Slot himself could have questions as to why the pair were allowed to depart for nothing despite their importance to the team.
