UEFA Euro 2025: Stars on show

With some of the best national teams in the continent on show, there are bound to be plenty of stars - pending fitness and selection - looking to help guide their country to glory.

Switzerland midfielder Lia Wälti will achieve something many dream of should she walk her side out as captain when the curtain raises on the competition. The Arsenal star has been at the top of her game over the last few years and will be pivotal to any potential success on home soil as one of the leading names in the squad.

2023 World Cup winners Spain will have a host of stars in their squad, the likes of Ballon d’Or winners Aitana Bonmati and Alexia Putellas among the many.

Holders England will have captain Leah Williamson back, after the defender missed their last major tournament in Australia & New Zealand.

France, who are still looking for their first successful run in this competition, will be relying on the fire power of forwards Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani.

Eight-time winners Germany said farewell to long serving captain Alexandra Popp last year, though they’re not short of options across the field with players like Sara Däbritz and Giulia Gwinn seasoned enough to take on leadership roles.

Norway boast Ada Hegerberg and Caroline Graham Hansen, but it remains to be seen whether or not they can tap into their roster of talent to mount a charge for the trophy.

With each team comes numerous big stars on show, making this event a spectacle not to be missed.
