LSU is college football's latest big-name program to fire its coach and enter what looks like the most exciting coaching carousel in recent memory. Not only are the Tigers in the mix, they move right to the front of the line as the top job available.

Brian Kelly's 34-14 record wasn't the type of failure that we typically see associated with firings at major programs. At a program with expectations like LSU, though, it isn't good enough.

In a coaching cycle that's already breaking records for buyouts and showcasing some of the sport's major names, LSU is a job that should attract the best and brightest.

In most cases, what a job was and is can be two completely different things.

In LSU's case, there may be no better time to demand the best out of the position.
