Results– The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's tennis team extended its winning streak to five matches Sunday with a 4-1 non-conference win over the Dillard Bleu Devils at the Dillard Tennis Facility.This is the longest winning streak for UTRGV (7-13, 1-0 Southland Conference) since 2004. It's the program's first five-match winning streak since 2001.The Vaqueros took a 1-0 lead after doubles. Sophomoreand freshmanrolled to a 6-1 win in the third flight, and the duo of sophomoreand freshmanclinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 2. The Vaqueros battled back from an early 0-2 deficit on Court 2 to win five games in a row, then held off a comeback attempt from the Bleu Devils to head into singles with the advantage.UTRGV grew the lead to 3-0 with wins on the top two singles courts. Sophomorepicked up a 6-1, 7-6 (7:5) win in the second flight, doing a good job of fighting in a back-and-forth second set. Isqueiro earned his third singles win in a row in a competitive 7-5, 6-2 match in the first flight.Dillard (7-3, 0-0 Red River Athletic Conference) got on the board with a win in the third singles match. With the team victory still up for grabs, the 4-6 flights got underway as the first three finished since the match was played on three courts.Sophomoreclinched the Vaqueros victory with a quick 6-3, 6-1 win in the fourth flight.
