Pat Cummins makes a bold prediction on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India

Australia Test captain Pat Cummins is sure that the upcoming Test series against India will be closely fought. India are set to travel to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, with both teams competing in five Tests. India and Australia are favourites to meet in the final of the World Test Championship.

Speaking to Sydney Morning Herald, Cummins said that the result of the previous Test series was decided in the last session of the last Test match at Gabba. Rishabh Pant played a match-winning knock to take India to a historic win under Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy.

India have won the previous two Test series in Australia and have not lost the BGT trophy in the last decade.

“In a couple of Test series I played against India, the matches were fought closely. The last test series was decided during the final session at the Gabba. That’s a good thing to remember. So you will have to manage the players throughout the matches,’ he said.

The captain also spoke about all-rounder Cameron Green, who is injured. “We wanted to see him bowling as he has a long career ahead of him. He is young, and I am sure he will play a lot of cricket for Australia.

“Fast bowlers are prone to injuries, and the hardest thing in cricket is to miss games. It could be pretty lonely when you don’t play cricket because of injuries,” he added.

Cummins missed six years of Test cricket due to back injuries. The first Test between India and Australia will start on November 22.
