Thomas Partey insists Arsenal will not give up on the title despite losing ground on Liverpool.

Arsenal threw away a two-goal lead and slipped back to being six points behind Arne Slot ’s leaders. Gunners midfielder Partey said: “You want to be at the top so you continue to look at people at the top but the main focus is always to believe in ourselves, try to do things better, focus and win our games.

“I think the mentality from our fans, to the players, to the coach is very clear. We want to be the best, chase the best teams and want to be the best team. Our mentality is to do our best and become the best.

“I think there a lot of teams chasing the title and we have to focus on ourselves and win our games.”

Saturday might have been a sliding doors moment as Liverpool were being held by Brentford on 90 minutes of their game - but ended up winning 2-0.

Partey said it was up to the players as to whether they tuned in but Arsenal not only saw the chance to narrow the gap disappear they also dropped two more points from a winning position.

When asked whether he had followed the Liverpool game, Partey added: “I saw it after but every individual is free to watch games or focus on any game which is being played. But at the end of the day, we want to continue to dominate games and try to win our games.

“I’m proud of the team, everybody is proud of each other because we are doing a really great job and dominating a lot of teams. Every game that we play, we play consistently, we keep our consistency and at the end of the day we will get our results.”
