Marcus Rashford is rivalling Bruno Fernandes in one area since Aston Villa move, Ruben Amorim should be livid

Manchester United’s decision to allow a player as good as Marcus Rashford to leave on loan in January was a shock, which has paid off for Aston Villa.

Since the Carrington graduate made the move from Manchester to Birmingham, he has returned to the levels of quality that many came to expect.

With this return to form, Marcus Rashford has been playing football with a smile back on his face after a dismal 18 months for Manchester United, and Tuesday night in the Champions League, he showed his best performance.

Unai Emery admitted Rashford was Aston Villa’s best player vs PSG, with his magnificent assist leading to heavy praise. After the game, United fans were lauding Rashford as being ‘out of this world’, leaving many envious due to how bad the Red Devils have been in attack.

When speaking about the game, United legend Wayne Rooney admitted he wants Rashford back at Old Trafford, with nobody in Ruben Amorim’s squad capable of doing what Rashford can on his best day.

Now, it has emerged that Rashford has been rivalling Bruno Fernandes with his performances since January.

Marcus Rashford ranks behind Bruno Fernandes for chances created

Since making the loan switch, Rashford has been reborn for Villa as he looks to earn himself a summer transfer, with Villa yet to decide whether they will trigger the £40 million option to buy this summer.

Rashford is hoping that his performances will earn a move to PSG this summer, which is his dream move, along with a transfer to Barcelona. Now it has emerged just how impressive Rashford’s form has been for Villa.

According to Opta Joe, since January, Rashford has created 27 chances in the Premier League from his Villa debut to now, while providing five assists, which is the most of anyone in the league.

Rashford’s flourishing numbers for creativity are only beaten in the league by Fernandes who has created 40 chances since the same date.

These numbers do two things: showcase how amazing Fernandes is and also how Rashford is a player that United would be better for having in the team if he were at his best and not underperforming.

Ruben Amorim will be livid with Marcus Rashford for Manchester United

While Rashford’s form is good for him and United’s chances of selling this summer, it will surely have left Amorim fuming with the 27-year-old.

Upon joining the club as head coach, Amorim was full of praise for Rashford at United as he made it clear that the club’s No.10 had a big role to play under him. He was excited by the prospect of having a player like Rashford.

Under Amorim, Rashford had a hot start, scoring three goals in three starts before he was exiled from the squad.

Due to this, it was likely a real disappointment that Rashford publicly stated his desire to leave United, and his refusal to make amends will have been an even bigger blow for the head coach.

So, to see Rashford playing so well for Villa will be something that Amorim is angry with, knowing full well that the player was capable of doing this at United if he had knuckled down.

There is a chance amends are made this summer, but it could be too late for Rashford at United with his fee expected to be needed to overhaul the forward line this summer, with United wanting Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap.

With how poor the United attack has been in recent months, Amorim will be wishing things had panned out differently with Rashford.
