SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly Men’s Tennis improved its season record to 8-4 with a clinical 4-1 victory over Pacific on Sunday at Ronca Tennis Center. The win, which saw the Mustangs drop the doubles point before rallying in singles, was a testament to the team's depth and resilience.

The day began with a tightly contested doubles session. Cal Poly drew first blood on court three, where the tandem of Aaron Eliscu and Jovan Lubbe cruised to a 6-2 victory over Pacific's Das/Gummuluru.

Shortly after, the No. 2 team of Raz Haviv and Leo Matthysen were defeated 6-2 by Reuben De Klerk and Christof Schaertlin before the Mustangs' top pair of Jack Cross and Sean Kamyshev fell 6-4 to Giesen/Rating.

Trailing by one after conceding the doubles point, the Mustangs came out focused for the singles competition. The first singles point to finish came from court six, where Sean Ferguson delivered a dominant performance. Ferguson overwhelmed Pacific’s Chetverukhin, dropping just four games in a 6-3, 6-1 victory that leveled the match score at 1-1.

Cal Poly never looked back. Sean Kamyshev followed suit on court four, showcasing his own determined game in spite of a nagging injury to dispatch Das, 6-3, 6-2. On court three, Jack Cross enjoyed a breezy 6-2, 6-2 win over Nico Rating, extending the Cal Poly lead to 3-1.

The decisive blow came from the top of the lineup. On court one, Jovan Lubbe battled through a competitive match against Giesen, ultimately securing a 6-3, 6-2 win. Lubbe's victory, the fourth singles point for Cal Poly, officially clinched the team win, making the score 4-1.

The two remaining singles matches on courts two and five were left unfinished. Both were tightly contested battles that went unfinished, with Pacific's Schaertlin and Klerk each holding 1-0 set leads against Raz Haviv and Aaron Eliscu, respectively, when play was halted.

The 4-1 victory provides a strong boost for the Mustangs as they continue their season on the road next week against Boise State and Montana State.
