Fabrizio Romano confirms Celtic get £1.2m summer 'deal done'

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Celtic have a ‘deal done’ for Swedish star Benjamin Nygren and has revealed two key contract details.

Celtic have been chasing Nygren for a number of weeks now and it appears that Brendan Rodgers is set to make his third summer transfer signing.

After the Hoops captured Kieran Tierney and Ross Doohan, it looks like Nygren will be heading to Parkhead to become the Celtic manager’s third summer transfer addition.

And here, Romano confirms two key details of the Swede’s contract with Celtic.

Fabrizio Romano reveals contract details of Celtic’s Benjamin Nygren deal

Celtic were told Nygren would have been an ideal signing for teams like Brondby and FC Copenhagen but it appears that those Danish clubs will need to lick their wounds as Rodgers has got his man.

Taking to X, Romano said, “Benjamin Nygren to Celtic, here we go! Deal done with Nordsjælland for €1.5m [£1.28m] transfer fee.

“Contract until June 2029 plus option until 2030.”

With a four-year deal and an option of an extra 12 months at the end of 2029, it appears Celtic are confident that Nygren will be a success at Parkhead.

“He’s been fine for Nordsjælland up until this season, where he really broke through and became a big profile for them. This season he’s been incredible and really showed himself as a high-class striker.

“With his contract running out at the end of the year, you are getting a steal here.”
