Benjamin Sesko has now outscored eight Premier League attacking signings after ‘worst’ jibe

Benjamin Sesko scored his 11th Premier League goal of the season for Manchester United against Liverpool, continuing to prove his doubters wrong.

It was a 12th goal in all competitions for Benjamin Sesko, which is an impressive tally in 19 starts. He has 10 in 16 this calendar year for Manchester United, which is an elite record over a full season.

This is a far cry from back at the start of this season when Sesko was named the ‘worst’ signing of the summer in the entire Premier League by anonymous football agents.

The jibe was nonsensical at the time, and looks even more ridiculous as the season has progressed.

Sesko scored against Liverpool, taking his Premier League tally to 11 for his debut campaign.

This is one more than Rasmus Hojlund managed in his debut campaign, while playing considerably less, giving the Slovenian a strong platform to kick on and aim for 20 next season.

Through his performances, Sesko has made the decision to label him the worst signing of the season incredibly naive, especially when looking at seven attacking signings he has now outscored in the league.

Sesko has out-performed all these names and looks set to also outperform Hugo Ekitike as they sit level on goals.

Most impressive, Sesko has scored 0.61 goals per 90 in the league this season, meaning he scores once every 1.22 games (every 149 minutes).

This puts him behind only Erling Haaland, Igor Thiago and Eli Kroupi Junior as most frequent scorers when on the pitch. Sesko will get even better going forward and next season he may explode.

Rio Ferdinand hails Sesko for performance against Liverpool

Like most of the season, Sesko was excellent against Liverpool and has earned praise from Rio Ferdinand.

“Sesko’s movement in the first 15 minutes, moving across people and being a threat was tremendous”, he said on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel after the game.

Sesko was a handful for Liverpool’s defenders, with Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk unable to get to grips with him and they improved massively after he was withdrawn.

Not only the goals, Sesko has so many positives to his game, with hold up play and link up becoming increasingly top class.
