The Incredible Salary of Paul Pogba at AS Monaco

Paul Pogba has gone from being one of the highest-paid footballers in the world to not even ranking among the top earners at AS Monaco.

Once the most expensive player in the world, he reportedly earned around £290,000 per week at Manchester United. Today, his salary in the Principality is below £44,000 per week—a significant reduction.

After returning to action following an 18-month doping suspension, Pogba received offers from several clubs that could have come close to matching what he earned at Old Trafford. However, the Frenchman appears to have prioritized sporting ambitions over financial gain.

In his contract with AS Monaco, there are performance-based clauses, but the World Cup winner has struggled to regain consistency, mainly due to the injuries that have plagued him since his return.

In Ligue 1, he has played just three matches, all coming off the bench. He did not feature in the Champions League, while he was also absent from the Coupe de France due to physical issues. His return to top form has been more complicated than expected.

Pogba’s objective is clear: to rediscover his best version and once again showcase the quality that, so far, has only appeared in brief flashes during his time on the pitch. For now, financial matters have taken a back seat; his priority is to compete again at the highest level.

Proof of this is that during the last international break, he traveled to Barcelona to train at the club’s training facilities alongside Ansu Fati, aiming to accelerate his return to peak condition.

Pogba may no longer earn what he did at the height of his career, but his ambition remains intact: to return to the elite and eventually be among the highest-paid players in French football once again.
