Ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah on Sunday, December 29 got the better of rookie Australia opener Sam Konstas and in an unusual display, had a special celebration in store for the dismissal. He won his battle against Konstas, dismissing the latter in the seventh over of Australia's second innings to the delight of Indian fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Konstas, who had dominated the Indian bowling attack with aggressive shot-making in the first innings, couldn't replicate his heroics for a second time, as Bumrah rattled his stumps.

In an animated reaction, Bumrah turned to the MCG crowd, requesting them to roar in approval. Watch the video here:

Bumrah's gesture was a direct nod to Konstas' antics on Day 3 when the Aussie had tried to rally the MCG crowd while fielding near the boundary rope.

"Fast bowlers, they have long memories," Gavaskar had said while speaking on Day 3 of the Test.

Konstas looked unusually timid and lacked the audacity that he showed in the first innings when he scored 61 off just 65 deliveries. With his wicket, Bumrah took his tally to 26 wickets in the series.

Meanwhile, Australia extended their overall lead to 158 at lunch on Day 4. Nitish Reddy’s valiant effort ended at 114 to take India’s first innings total to 369 during the lengthy morning session, helping the Australians to a 105-run lead. Australia skipper Pat Cummins, Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon picked three wickets apiece.

Reddy holed out in the deep off Lyon (3/96 in 28.3 overs) as the Indian innings ended in the 120th over. The Indian bowlers, led by Bumrah, came out charged in the second innings and the decision to give the new ball to Akash Deep was a wise one.

The India pacer did not bowl too many release balls even as Bumrah kept beating the bat of Konstas and Usman Khawaja regularly.
