MANILA, Philippines—Alex Eala’s campaign at the Nottingham Open came to an end Tuesday (Manila time).The Filipino tennis ace crashed out of the WTA 250 tournament after losing to Poland’s Magna Linette, 6-4, 6-3, in the round of 32.Article continues after this advertisementThe 20-year-old Eala’s elimination came just a day after reaching the main draw when she overcame Romania’s Anca Todoni, 6-3, 6(4)-7, 6-3, in her final qualifying match.Before ousting Todoni, Eala also defeated France’s Varvara Gracheva to open her Nottingham Open bid.Following a pair of gritty three-set victories, Eala couldn’t get it going against the much-experienced Linette, the tournament’s sixth seed and world No. 31.Prior to the Nottingham Open, the 77th-ranked Eala suffered a quarterfinal exit at the Ilkley Open in the United Kingdom at the hands of Canada’s Rebecca Marino.
