MANILA, Philippines—Alex Eala’s campaign at the Nottingham Open came to an end Tuesday (Manila time).

The Filipino tennis ace crashed out of the WTA 250 tournament after losing to Poland’s Magna Linette, 6-4, 6-3, in the round of 32.

The 20-year-old Eala’s elimination came just a day after reaching the main draw when she overcame Romania’s Anca Todoni, 6-3, 6(4)-7, 6-3, in her final qualifying match.

Before ousting Todoni, Eala also defeated France’s Varvara Gracheva to open her Nottingham Open bid.

Following a pair of gritty three-set victories, Eala couldn’t get it going against the much-experienced Linette, the tournament’s sixth seed and world No. 31.

Prior to the Nottingham Open, the 77th-ranked Eala suffered a quarterfinal exit at the Ilkley Open in the United Kingdom at the hands of Canada’s Rebecca Marino.
