Man Utd to 'Go Big' on Deal to Sign Elliot Anderson Ahead of Man City

Manchester United are expected to 'go big' on a deal to sign Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson ahead of Man City this summer, according to Ben Jacobs.

The Red Devils are expected to make a play to overhaul their midfield during the summer window, with Casemiro departing at the end of his contract, and major question marks over the future of Manuel Ugarte after a lack of first-team football in recent months.

England international Anderson has been identified as the top target for the position ahead of next season, but United face stiff competition from rivals Man City, and GIVEMESPORT's senior correspondent Jacobs believes a battle is set between the sides for his signature.

Anderson, who has been described as 'elite' by Thomas Tuchel, is expected to start for England at the World Cup this summer after a string of top performances this season, despite his team's struggles in the Premier League.

Reports have suggested that Anderson prefers a move to the Etihad over Old Trafford, but while speaking on The United Stand, Jacobs revealed that he hadn't been told that and that as far as he is concerned, Man Utd are still very much in the race.

"Manchester City and Manchester United both expected to go big on Elliot Anderson," he said.

"My intel from within the club at the moment is not that Manchester United definitively think they're going to lose the race for Elliot Anderson or that he's going to go off to Manchester City or that the player is only going to make a decision based on finances.

"There is an appreciation Man City will be able to offer more money, but Manchester United are certainly going to be able to improve upon his current Nottingham Forest package as well. So this is one I think is going to run into the late April/Early May period before we get real clarity."

Anderson The Perfect Answer for Man Utd Midfield

Midfield is an area of the Man Utd squad that has been neglected in recent years, and it has shown with the performances on the pitch. A rebuild is absolutely necessary, and Anderson would be a perfect addition.

As someone with Premier League experience, he is playing at a very high level and is the type to improve when playing with better players, as he has shown at international level. Anderson has all the attributes to shine with Man Utd, and it would be a real statement signing if they could get it over the line at the expense of Man City simultaneously.
