By Francis Ofori, GNAAccra, 29 March, GNA – The final fixtures of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier B ended on a damp note as the encounter between Seychelles and Eswatini was officially abandoned without a ball being bowled at the Achimota Cricket Oval A.Persistent morning drizzle quickly escalated into heavy downpours, leaving the outfield saturated and unplayable. Despite the best efforts of the ground staff to manage the drainage, the match officials were forced to call off the game after multiple inspections, as conditions posed a significant risk to player safety. The abandonment means both sides walk away with a single point each. For Seychelles and Eswatini, the result cements their positions in the lower half of the table, ending their hopes of progressing further in the qualification pathway for the 2028 World Cup.Seychelles finished the tournament with three points showing flashes of brilliance in the field but struggled to find consistency with the bat in the humid Ghanaian conditions while Eswatini also finishing with three points showed commendable resilience throughout the qualifiers, though their campaign was hampered by losing key moments in previous close encounters. While this match had no bearing on the top-of-the-table clash between the tournament heavyweights, it marks the end of a gruelling schedule for both squads.Mark Bawa Fuseini, Head Coach of Seychelles told GNA Sports, “It’s always a disappointing way to end a tour.“The boys were keen to sign off with a win, but you can’t compete with the weather. We take the lessons learned here back home.”Officials are currently assessing the field to confirm if the last two matches between Ghana and Tanzania, St Helena and Malawi will come off as scheduled.GNAKenneth Odeng Adade
