PSL 11 Controversy: Lahore Qalandars' Security Breach

LAHORE: A fresh controversy has surfaced in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 11), as Lahore Police have flagged a potential breach of security protocols involving members of Lahore Qalandars.

According to an official notice issued by the Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Lahore, the incident reportedly occurred on March 28 at the Pearl Continental (PC) Hotel, where all PSL teams are currently residing under tight security.

The report reveals that a formal request was submitted through the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) liaison, seeking permission for four relatives of Sikandar Raza to meet him. However, the request was denied by PSL CEO Salman Naseer in accordance with established security guidelines.

Despite this refusal, it is alleged that Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sikandar Raza later facilitated the visitors’ entry into a hotel room that same night. The visitors reportedly stayed for a considerable duration, prompting concern among security officials.

In the notice, DIG Operations Lahore Muhammad Faisal described the incident as a “clear violation” of PCB security protocols and the league’s code of conduct. Authorities have been urged to investigate the matter and consider disciplinary action to avoid similar incidents in the future.

The situation has ignited debate among fans online, with comparisons being drawn to recent disciplinary actions involving Naseem Shah. While some are demanding strict accountability, others are questioning whether enforcement of rules has been consistent.

So far, the PCB has not released an official statement regarding the incident.
