There’s less than a week until the summer transfer window opens for just a few days and clubs can make their moves in the market.

The new-look Club World Cup taking place this summer has seen a mini-window introduced for the first time. It means the window will open on Sunday, June 1, and then close on Tuesday, June 10.

The window will then re-open six days later on June 16, and close on September 1 with the deadline at 7pm.

For Manchester United, work is already being done in the transfer market. Wolves forward Matheus Cunha is closing in on a move to Old Trafford with the club triggering his £62.5 million release clause.

That’s not the only deal being worked on at the club, with both incomings and outgoings on the agenda.

With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at a couple of the stories dominating the agenda in the last 24 hours.

Liam Delap blow

United have been handed a potential blow in the race for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap with Chelsea said to be closing in on a move for the player.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that there has been positive talks between Chelsea and the player. The Blues are said to have overtaken United in the race due to the lack of European football weaking United’s position.

Newcastle and Everton are also said to have held talks with Delap over a potential move, but the player is leaning towards Chelsea.

MEN Sport says: The loss against Tottenham in the Europa League final and therefore the lack of European football next season was always going to give United a disadvantage when it comes to transfer targets this season.

United will be hoping to compete against Chelsea in the Premier League table next season, so losing one of their key transfer targets to a rival would be a real blow for Ruben Amorim in what he hopes will be a positive summer.

United eye PSG star

United have made a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lee Kang-in, according to reports.

CaughtOffside report that a stall in contract talks between the player and PSG has opened the door for other clubs to make their move for the player, with United said to have done just that. Amorim is said to have identified the attacking midfieder as one of his targets in the transfer window.

They are, however, not alone in showing an interest.

Atletico Madrid, Napoli, Arsenal, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are all reported to have made their interest known.

MEN Sport says: It is reported that Lee wants more playing time and to build a relationship with a manager who will place his trust in him. This is where Amorim could be key, especially given the amount of teams who are reportedly in the race for the player.

The 24-year-old would provide creativity as Amorim looks to improve his attack over the summer transfer window. The exit of Christian Eriksen could open up a space in the United squad for a creative midfielder.
