World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz continued his impressive 2026 season by claiming the Qatar Open title with a 6-2, 6-1 straight-sets victory against French player Arthur Fils on Saturday night in Doha. The match lasted just 50 minutes as Alcaraz dominated the final.

This triumph in Qatar came 20 days after Alcaraz became the youngest man to complete the Career Grand Slam by winning the Australian Open. From the outset, Alcaraz set the pace by striking early and demonstrating exceptional athleticism in defence. Although Fils improved his level and engaged in intense baseline rallies, the Spaniard maintained control with remarkable retrievals and crucial winners, securing his twelfth consecutive win of the year.

Alcaraz said, “I came this year hungry for more. I think after every tournament, we just have to set new goals. I’m just really happy and proud of everything I have done with my team on and off the court.” He added, “It’s been a really strong start to the year. It wasn’t easy. I had to be strong mentally with my team. I’m just playing great tennis, and I’m really happy about this week. This trophy means a lot to me.”

This victory marked Alcaraz’s ninth ATP 500 title, equalling Andy Murray for the fourth-most championships in the category since its inception in 2009. He improved to a perfect 3-0 record against Arthur Fils and extended his outdoor hard-court winning streak to 30 matches, a run that includes Grand Slam wins at the Australian Open and US Open.

The Saturday night encounter in Doha was their first meeting since Alcaraz won consecutive clay court matches against Fils in 2025, and their first hard-court clash ended in similar fashion.
