Wimbledon announces introduction of Video Review technology for 2026

Players will be allowed to review calls on six show courts at grass major

After Wimbledon adopted Electronic Line Calling for the first time last year, the grass-court major has announced it will introduce Video Review in 2026.

For the first time in the history of The Championships, players will be able to request the use of Video Review technology to review specific judgement calls made by the chair umpire. They will be able to review calls such as ‘not-up’, ‘foul shot’ and ‘touch’. Video Review will be available on Centre Court, No. 1 Court, No. 2 Court, No. 3 Court, Court 12 and Court 18, either on a point-ending call, when a player immediately stops play, or immediately after the completion of a point (in the case of hindrance).

There will also be some improvements to the Electronic Line Calling system in place for the 139th edition of Wimbledon, which takes place from 29 June to 12 July. This year, scoreboards for all matches on all courts (including qualifying) will feature visual indicators for live Electronic Line Calling. The indicators will show ‘out’ and ‘fault’ calls.
