Chennai Super Kings ( CSK ) had a disastrous run in IPL 2025. The MS Dhoni-led side became the first team to get knocked out of the playoff race after losing eight out of the first 10 games. CSK didn't have a great auction, and there was a definite dearth of quality in the batting department. The team also lost Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad to injuries, which further added to the misery.

The IPL 2025 is done and dusted for the CSK, and the plan now will be to build a good team for the future. Given how CSK played this year, there are going to be a lot of changes in the squad for IPL 2026.

MS Dhoni led CSK in IPL 2025 after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out, however, it's highly likely that Dhoni won't be part of the squad next year. CSK could also let go of R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, and Sam Curran, who didn't have a great season.

CSK need to add firepower to the batting, and Cameron Green could be a good addition to the squad. Green missed out on the IPL 2025 due to injury, so he should be available for selection. If Dhoni is out, CSK would need a wicketkeeper-batter, and Jonny Bairstow could bring quality to the side. Dynamic batsman Prithvi Shaw could also be part of the batting lineup along with Sarfaraz Khan or Yash Dhull.

Replacements of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja would be tough to find given their valuable experience, and it's a call that the team will have to take ahead of the auction. There'll be some big names released before the auction, and CSK could target them to bolster their spin attack. They could also go after Adil Rashid, but they'll have to release one of the overseas pacers and Jamie Overton could be the one to make way.

CSK Likely Squad For IPL 2026: Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Shaik Rasheed, Jonny Bairstow, Devon Conway, Shivam Dube, Rachin Ravindra, Adil Rashid, Dewald Brevis, Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan, Ramakrishna Ghosh, Matheesha Pathirana, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Choudhary, Nathan Ellis, Anshul Kamboj, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Noor Ahmad, Shreyas Gopal, Vansh Bedi, Andre Siddarth
