Gary Neville claims Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold can do something no right-back in the history of football has ever been able to

Trent Alexander-Arnold was one of the standout players for Liverpool as they vanquished Tottenham Hotspur 6-3 in yet another statement performance from the league leaders.

Alexander-Arnold looked like he was in the mood to put on a vintage masterclass from start to finish, wowing observers with an immaculate pass for Mohamed Salah, whose close-range effort was saved and subsequently ruled out offside.

Soon after, the Liverpool right-back set Luis Diaz up with a sublime cross that he headed past Fraser Forster in what was a truly elite assist.

While it seemed like Arne Slot had read Ange Postecoglou’s tactical plan like the back of his hand, it takes world-class players to produce individual moments of genius to win such big games.

Too often in his career now, the Englishman has done just that for his boyhood club. Gary Lineker named Alexander-Arnold as superior to David Beckham as a passer as his unique eye for a final ball was there to see at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Gary Neville was full of praise for the 26-year-old as well.

Gary Neville says no right-back in history is a better passer and crosser than Trent Alexander-Arnold

Analysing Diaz’s opening goal against Tottenham, Neville claimed that Liverpool defender Alexander-Arnold’s passing and crossing trumps any right-back to have ever played the game. Gary Neville sang Diaz’s praises too after the contest.

On Alexander-Arnold, the pundit stated on The Gary Neville Podcast: “I thought the Trent Alexander-Arnold cross for the first goal, you know sometimes you have a great view of something in a football match and you’re up here and you’ve just seen Trent Alexander-Arnold on the ball down beneath us at right-back.”

“And you can just see [Luis] Diaz, you look up and you think, what’s he got and you see Diaz making that run and you think, can he hit it and you know he’s going to try and put it there and to put it exactly where he wanted to, I mean, he makes it look really simple but it is world-class.”

“We’ve never seen passing and crossing from a right-back of that type ever I think and I think I can include all the great right-backs globally, not just those who played in the Premier League. It is absolutely sensational, it really is.”

Previously, even Conor Bradley has lauded Alexander-Arnold as “one of a kind as a footballer.”

Dominic Solanke hailed Alexander-Arnold as “too good” with the ball at his feet, something he witnessed front and centre as he led Liverpool’s destruction of Spurs.

One could sing the West Derby-born creator’s praises for hours on end when zeroing in on his passing and crossing.

But against Tottenham, Alexander-Arnold excelled in various facets of his game.

As the statistics showcase, the England international had an excellent game defensively as well.

Playing against one of the Premier League’s best-ever wingers in Heung-min Son, Alexander-Arnold would have expected to have his hands full before the game.

However, the Liverpool vice-captain managed to keep Son quiet in what was an all-encompassing display from him.
