Carlos Alcaraz leaves Dua Lipa looking unimpressed at Indian Wells

Celebrity megastar Dua Lipa looked less than impressed with what she saw in the first set between Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev.

In Alcaraz's semifinal matchup against Medvedev, it appeared as if the Russian star had the Spanish superstar's number, getting an early advantage over the 22-year-old. Medvedev won the first set 6-3 as fans in the stands watched on as the star did anything he wanted against his younger opponent.

Among those at Indian Wells was Dua Lipa, sitting in the shade as the sun beamed down on the competitors. The celebrity megastar's appearance comes after Medvedev revealed the two reasons he could defeat the Spaniard when they meet.

With the Russian star leading 30-0 and up 4-1 in the first set, cameras spotted the musician looking one as Alcaraz faced a deficit. Fans on social media quickly ran with the moment, stating that they believed the superstar singer was not a fan of what she saw from Alcaraz.

"Dua Lipa is not impressed with Alcaraz’s first set," a post read on X. Another commentator added: "She is making him nervous."

The second set was more competitive between the two, though it was clear the momentum Medvedev built in the first set was too much for Alcaraz to overcome, being saddled with his first loss of the year. In the end, Medvedev advanced to the final to face Jannik Sinner, with the two men having a chance to win their first Indian Wells title.

After beating Alcaraz 6-3, 7(7)-6(3), Medvedev took a moment to explain what his game plan was and how he felt, knowing that he had just defeated the No. 1 men's player in the world. "Yeah, honestly great feeling," he began immediately after his win. "I mean playing someone like Carlos, as I said on the court, you play many times, you lose many times.

"He's an amazing player with amazing shots, defense, attack, serve, return, everything. So you need to be at your best and I was. I was serving great. I mean I served, I saved one or two set points.

"I said one or two break points the game before, so I was hanging in in the second set as I could, but playing great tennis and super happy to beat someone as strong as him."

And while Dua Lipa might have been disappointed with the outcome, Medvedev's win is a result of his preparation against Alcaraz, as before the semifinal clash, the star explained how he could beat the Spaniard. “I feel like the court is a bit faster since the two times I have played him. The balls are different. So I feel like it’s a good chance to try to, you know, to show my best tennis against him," he reflected.

“But he’s the toughest opponent we have right now, him and Jannik [Sinner], maybe a bit debatable who is the toughest. So it’s a very tough opponent, and if it’s him, I need to show my absolute best and try to beat him.”
