In the end, Medvedev advanced to the final to face Jannik Sinner, with the two men having a chance to win their first Indian Wells title. After beating Alcaraz 6-3, 7(7)-6(3), Medvedev took a moment to explain what his game plan was and how he felt, knowing that he had just defeated the No. 1 men's player in the world. "Yeah, honestly great feeling," he began immediately after his win. "I mean playing someone like Carlos, as I said on the court, you play many times, you lose many times."He's an amazing player with amazing shots, defense, attack, serve, return, everything. So you need to be at your best and I was. I was serving great. I mean I served, I saved one or two set points."I said one or two break points the game before, so I was hanging in in the second set as I could, but playing great tennis and super happy to beat someone as strong as him."And while Dua Lipa might have been disappointed with the outcome, Medvedev's win is a result of his preparation against Alcaraz, as before the semifinal clash, the star explained how he could beat the Spaniard. “I feel like the court is a bit faster since the two times I have played him. The balls are different. So I feel like it’s a good chance to try to, you know, to show my best tennis against him," he reflected.“But he’s the toughest opponent we have right now, him and Jannik [Sinner], maybe a bit debatable who is the toughest. So it’s a very tough opponent, and if it’s him, I need to show my absolute best and try to beat him.”
